Baltimore VA Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center

The center specializes in providing rehabilitation and post-acute care for patients in the VA Maryland Health Care System. The Center coordinates the delivery of rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, kinesiotherapy and recreation to achieve the highest level of recovery and independence for Maryland’s veterans. The Center also provides hospice and nursing home care to veterans requiring non-acute inpatient care, in addition to offering specialized treatment for patients with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. DONATIONS: Comfort items, magazines and monetary contributions are accepted.
ELIGIBILITY: Anyone who entered the Armed Forces before September 7, 1980 and who had any type of discharge other than dishonorable; and anyone who entered after September 7, 1980 and served a minimum of 24 consecutive months of active duty and received any discharge other than dishonorable. PAYMENT: Veterans with service-connected injuries and veterans who earn below poverty income level do not incur any co-payment charges. Veterans who need medical care that are not service-connected are charged for treatment based on their income level and medical insurance coverage. VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers age 14 and older are needed to assist with clerical duties and other health care related assignments.
